That is when 3 determined Rotarians Juan Miguel Hernandez, Carla Bordoli and Edwin Gladstone, decided to start the Estepona-Sotogrande International Club.
A tall order, yet here we are. We have achieved our objective just as we intend to overcome every obstacle and achieve every other objective we set as our goal for the benefit of our communities and humanity.
On the 13th October, we finally received the longawaited certificate, our foundation stone, given to us by the hand of Jesús Martínez, the present Governor of Rotary Club International Southern Counties & Balearic Islands, Melilla and Ceuta.
The inauguration was attended by over 100 people to support us and wish us success in our future tasks; of course, many were Rotarians from other clubs but it was most encouraging to see so many visitors joining in.
What made us feel honoured was the presence of so many presidents from other clubs offering their support and encouragement.
Although Mr. JUAN CARLOS RUÍZ (Mayor of San Roque) was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, we were greatly honoured by the presence of Mr JOSÉ MARÍA GARCÍA URBANO (Mayor of Estepona), MR JOSÉ CARRASCO (Mayor of Casares) and Mr. MARIO JIMÉNEZ (Mayor of Manilva) We take this opportunity to renew our gratitude to our Governor and his delegate Alain Pierard for their guidance and support at the same time we wish
to offer our very special thanks to our sponsor clubs the Rotary Marbella-Guadalmina and Como Baradello (in Northern Italy) not forgetting the additional support given by the Marbella Rotary International club.
