It has been reported that the Spanish tax office have so far caught up with some 160 tax dodgers registering their residence in Gibraltar yet living on the Costa with the object of avoiding paying income tax and capital gains tax. What is worse it would appear that some invoice their goods and services from a Gibraltar address while residing and working in Spain and also driving Gibraltar registered cars to avoid the car tax.
According to a recent article in a local paper, some of the extreme evaders are being prosecuted by the Hacienda in the courts in
Malaga and Cadiz.
It is claimed that the British fiscal colony is said to rob Spain of €1 billion per year in tax revenues.
It does not seem right on hard working foreign residents working and paying their dues in the country that gives then the hospitality.
