Do you know how to save electricity in your home?

Electricity in Spain is one of the most expensive in Europe.

At Matecno S.L we can show you many different ways to reduce your energy use and cost ranging from simple adjustments to doing away with electricity suppliers altogether. CALL US, meanwhile let us give you some examples of what can be done.

  • Saving can be as simple as turning off lights or appliances when you do not need them or turn down the heat on your thermostat in the winter and using your air
conditioner less in summer. Heating and cooling constitute nearly half of a home’s utility bills.
  • Replace your light bulbs: Replace traditional incandescent light bulbs that consume excessive amounts of electricity with more efficient alternatives such as
halogen bulbs, compact fluorescent lights or light-emitting diode bulbs using anywhere from 25-80% less electricity with a much longer bulb life.
  • Use smart power strips: Electricity used by electronics in standby mode, are a major source of energy waste. It is estimated that 75% of the energy used to power household electronics is consumed when they are switched off,
  • Install a programmable or smart thermostats. A programmable or smart thermostat can be set to automatically turn off or reduce heating and cooling during the times when you are asleep or away.

  • Purchase energy efficient appliances. When purchasing an appliance, you should pay attention to two numbers: the initial purchase price and the annual operating cost. Although energy efficient appliances usually have higher purchase prices, their operating costs are 9-25% lower than conventional models.
  • Water heating is a major contributor to your total energy consumption. Other than purchasing an energy efficient water heater, you can simply use less hot water, turn down the thermostat on your water heater, or insulate your water heater and the hot and cold water pipes.
  • Install energy efficient windows. Windows are significant source of energy waste, which can amount to 10-25% of your total heating bill or cooling.
  • Upgrade your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Sealing air leaks around your home is a great way to reduce your heating and cooling expenses. Also insulation is key to lowering your utility bills.
  • Generate your own electric power.
