Therefore, on this occasion, we shall present a general update of the various restaurants we have written about.
It would seem we have reported on some 22 different restaurants so far, therefore it is not unreasonable to look back and review the current position as we know it for the benefit of our readers. In alphabetical order:
Amanhavis Hotel Restaurant – Benahavis (Apr. 2006) (Mediterranean Cuisine)
We need to re-visit the restaurant.
Chambao Paradiso – Estepona (Feb. 2007) (Spanish Cuisine)
The last report was very recent and we have been back since. High standards and not expensive for the type of food and service that they provide. Excellent selection of tapas too.
El Barlovento – Sotogrande (Jan 2007) (Trad. Andalucian)
A traditional Spanish restaurant very popular with both Spanish and foreign patrons. The service is very good and being a family run business the atmosphere is warm and friendly.
El Estribo – Sabinillas (March 2007) (Argentinian Cuisine)
Excellent food especially charcoal steaks, very good service, high standards at good prices.
Escuela de Arte Ecuestre Restaurant - (Oct. 2006) (Typical Spanish)
Set meal at bargain price (lunch only) in high standard surroundings. Very good value.
Fox’s – Sabinillas ( Sept. 2006)(Typically English)
Traditionally good English food, competitively priced. Try the Sunday Lunch!
Flaherty’s – Puerto Sotogrande (Nov 2004) (Pub & Restaurant)
You can have your pint and Pub atmosphere if you wish, or you can sit outside looking at the view offered by the Sotogrande Port, but you can also have a pretty good meal in an environment that reminds of home and that is often missed.
Kempinki Breakfast Room – Estepona (Sept 2005) (Hotel- Breakfast)
Excellent breakfast I liked the idea of a sumptuous Brunch on Sunday with the family, which made it very good value for money.
Maccherone – San Pedro (Oct. 2004) (Italian Cuisine)
Massala – Sabinillas (Sept 2004) (Indian)
Osaka – Estepona (July 2006) (Japanese Cuisine)
Good place for Sushi, good value for money if you like Japanese cooking.
Passage to India – Puerto de la Duquesa (Dec 2005) (Indian Cuisine)
It would seem that the following restaurants have unfortunately closed down since:
Rainbow Room in Torreguadiaro - Gemojo in Puerto de la Duquesa.- Hailwood Lodge in Ronda – Conoisseur Club in Estepona – Barbesula in Sotogrande and now we are told that Portugal in Estepona has also closed down (Not confirmed).
They were all pretty good restaurants and it is a pity to see them go for different reasons. Regretfully we shall have to remove the corresponding reports from our database.
