Rother Valley Country Park
Rother Valley is an area of open land and countryside for recreational purposes as well as providing for a conservation area for wildlife. Rother Valley is famous for its watersports but there is so much more to offer. Have a look for yourself!
From the very start recreation was an integral part of the planning for Rother Valley Country Park. With an area currently of 300 hectares the park offers extensive scope for many types of recreation.
The Main Lake is classed as sheltered inland water, covering approximately 40 hectares. There is a purpose built Centre on the Eastern side of the lake, which offers changing facilities, toilets, showers, classrooms, reception area, first aid room and vending machines.
A comprehensive range of Watersports equipment including sailing dinghies, windsurfs, rowing boats, pedal boats, rafting sets, cycles and a variety of different canoes are available, both for hire and for use on courses. Wetsuits and buoyancy aids for all ages and sizes are kept in stock, although you are welcome to use your own if you prefer.
Conservation has always played a part in the valley, with areas of open water and marshland alongside the Rother prior to opencasting. These attracted migrating birds which use the river for navigation as they travel north and south during the spring and autumn migrations.
