The Sweet Centre of Success
The Sweet Centre and Village Restaurant on Meadowbank Road - near Meadowhall, is a new and innovative addition to the culture of Asian food and Sheffield has never seen anything quite like it.

The Sweet Centre comes from Bradford having started its days as a small Asian sweet shop in 1964. It has gradually grown over the years into a successful, family run restaurant and sweet parlour.
Now in the third generation of the family, the owner Mohammed Rahman has brought the Sweet Centre to Sheffield having taken on the five hundred thousand pound project of renovating a neglected pub and transforming it into a stylish ten thousand foot square restaurant… designing, and assisting with building it himself!
The incredible structure houses a huge dining room, equally sized wedding, party or corporate function dining room with private bar where the room hire, buffet or set meals and waiter service can cost as little as £30 a head, and a separate conference room. - image to come - Conference facilities - image to come - 1st floor restaurant for large party bookings
But this growth has not led to the demise of the traditional values and friendly atmosphere that Mohammed Rahman's customers come back to enjoy time and again. Being a traditional restaurant, alcohol is not on the menu, but if you want a drink - no problem, bring alcohol with you and they will serve it to you in the appropriate glasses.
The Sweet Centre prides itself on the service that they provide and indeed the attention that is paid to the customers is second to none. Mohammed claims that within one visit to his restaurant he can make a connection with his customers, making them feel welcome and at home, ensuring that they return.
He moves around the restaurant paying particular attention to each and every customer - he is the perfect host!
We visited the restaurant early Wednesday evening and already the restaurant was buzzing with a variety of people with not a table free by 9 o'clock. The Sweet Centre has been open just three weeks and already they are benefiting from repeated custom - which speaks volumes in itself. At the next table along from us sat a family of three and they did not hesitate in telling us that since the restaurant opened on 10th June they had already been at least once every week! They enthused about the food, the restaurant, the service and the atmosphere, advising us to try the Mango Lassi, a beautifully, fruity yoghurt drink and a perfect accompaniment with Indian dishes.
The friendliness is contagious and the food addictive!
The range of choice on the menu is astonishing and the value incredible (soon to be put to the test by the Web Express Guide's food reviewers for the October edition). When you first walk in you are struck by its style and grandeur and you immediately come to the conclusion that prices will mirror the surroundings. But you would be wrong.
Mr Rahman believes prices should be kept low so that everyone can enjoy the experience of eating at the Sweet Centre. The Sweet Centre is lucky to boast the chef, Zulfiqar Ali who previously worked for the famous Khan's Restaurant in London. He visited Mr Rahman when he heard of the venture and soon wanted to be a part of it.
The food created here is wonderfully fresh with so many different flavours to experience. For the inexperienced in Asian cuisine there is always someone there to assist and advise you.

For vegetarians there is a wide choice of dishes and for those wanting to lose a couple of pounds - the Sweet Centre have catered for you too. Their versatility and desire to please is refreshing and welcoming.
But the Sweet Centre has so much more to offer. Not only is it a restaurant but it also has the facilities to hold wedding receptions, birthday celebrations and other private parties. The upstairs seating area is enormous with plenty of space for a dance floor, a buffet or a karaoke - just tell them what you want and they will accommodate your every whim.
This is still not the end to the services that the Sweet Centre provides. It also has fantastic conference facilities with a room being dedicated to this very purpose. They have video/audio equipment, projector and screen and will provide any other supplies you may need for that successful conference - just call in advance and they will ensure that everything you require is there.
All in all we at Web Express Guide were amazed by the welcome we received from such a large and busy restaurant. The atmosphere was friendly and the waiters and host always had time for the individual. The choice on the menu is extensive and the value was refreshing. Don't miss out on a truly unique experience and a great night out for all the family. You will be well looked after.
