Be - Do - Have… A Formula for Success in Anything You Do

In order to 'have' anything in life we all recognise that we have to 'do' something to achieve it. If you want wealth you must invest. If you want love you must first give it. If you want respect you must earn it. No matter what you want, you need to 'do'

But 'do'ing is not the only thing you need to change in order to 'have'. More importantly, first it's how you think that needs to change; In other words, it's who you have to 'be' in order to 'do' what needs to be done. You must 'be'come the person who would have the things or persona that you desire. You must develop the identity, beliefs and values of a person who has those things. Therefore the following three little words are crucial if you are to achieve your goals in your business or personal life…

BE - DO - HAVE
Goals are the 'have' part of these three words. Goals such as to have a nice body, or to have the perfect relationship, or to have a million pounds or to have a more profitable business.

Once most people understand what they want to have (their goal) they begin to make a list of what they have to do…that is the exact reason most people have 'to do' lists. The goal is set and then they begin 'doing'. To have the perfect body, most people go on a diet and go to the gym. This lasts for a few weeks and then most are back to their old ways of chips and pizza. Then instead of going to the gym they decide to watch something on TV and that's the end of that. This is a prime example of 'doing' instead of 'being'.

It's not the diet that counts; it's who you have to be to follow the diet that counts. Yet, every year millions of people search out the perfect diet to follow. They focus on completely the wrong thing, what you have to do, rather than who they have to be. The latest diet will not help if your thoughts do not change… because you are what you think.

In business it's the same. Many companies have invested thousands in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software in order to try and deliver better service levels to their customers. Again this is a classic example of 'doing. Instead they should 'be' starting with the attitude, mind-set and beliefs of a business owner who truly wants to provide great service to their clients, asks questions, listens to their needs and provides exactly what their clients want.

A business delivering a poor customer service with a shiny new CRM system, that they think is all they need to 'do' to solve the problem, is still a company delivering a poor customer service.

When it comes to money, many people try and 'do' what rich people do and 'have' what rich people have. So they go out and buy a big house, an expensive car and send their children to high fee schools. All this achieves is to cause these people 'to do' by having, to work harder and 'to have' a huge debt. This is known to us all as 'Keeping up with the Jones' '…but if you look closely, the Jones' are exhausted and stressed out with financial troubles through all the effort of 'doing' what they think the rich do and 'having' what they think the rich have.

If you want to end up being rich, or have the perfect body, or have a more profitable business then you need to 'think'. Think independently rather than going along with the crowd. If you do what everyone else does you'll end up with what everyone else has.

Achieving what you want is not about 'what to do', it's about strengthening your thoughts (being) so that you can take the action (doing) that will enable you to have whatever you desire in your business/work or personal life and live a life of abundance.
