The tough economies of 2011 somewhat restrict the massive changes in trends and fashion that we have seen in the past. However trends and tendencies will always prevail and although the major excesses of past seasons have gone 2011 will see us, rightfully, continue on with a drive of subtle consumption mixed with obvious quality.
This means that well be buying less but spend more: less bland, and more quality - fewer indulgences, but better statement pieces.
Two trends merge this season; the maxi look is back but with a difference. It now merges with another trend favourite to give us the sheer maxi dress trend.
They say that the overtly sheer look can be tough if youre not a model but it does provide a heightened sense of refinement and, as you can see, the result can be very effective even if you are not a model.
The alternative is lace dresses and lace skirts. Yes, of course, that this is nothing new, especially of you still remember the 60s & 70s. And youre right; its an extension of the sheer trend thats has, for some time, firmly cemented itself as its own, independent trend.
So what follows is, instead, more about how to wear the trend now, and how to set yourself apart from the masses - so that you can bring it forwards and into a new league .
