I was born in New York on 22nd April 1937.I am best known for portraying antagonistic,cynical, neurotic and aggressive characters in films. I received Kennedy Centre Honours in 2001, and have been nominated for an Academy Award a dozen times, winning three of them. I also won seven Golden Globe Awards.

It was uncovered that the woman I always thought was my mother, was in fact my grandmother because I was the illegitimate child of her daughter. I started my career as an actor, writer, and producer. My work with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper led to my real break. I got a Best Actor nomination for my role in the film that includes my famous chicken salad dialogue about getting what you want.

The 9/11 terrorist attacks led me to focus on comedies. In 2002, I portrayed a man who questions his own life after his retirement and the death of his wife. The deeply emotional, slow film stands in sharp contrast to many of my previous roles. Who am I?
