The WXPG Food Review: Pasta Caffé - Nueva Andalucia.

Introduction -
We were looking for a good family restaurant where children are welcome and catered for and what we had heard about the Pasta Caffé in Nueva Andalucia appeared to match our requirement. And it is easy to find, just drive past the bullring across from Puerto Banus, past Centro Plaza and you will come facing it at the 3rd roundabout.
This time we pre-arranged a 3-course menu at a set price with a choice of 3 for each course, so as to test their ability to cater for parties and groups. And we even brought a child with us.

The open terrace, the inner terrace and the internal part of the restaurant offer 3 different types of environment depending on individual preference, yet together as a whole they create a cheerful atmosphere which I think is unique to this restaurant. We had booked the inner terrace, and it was quite busy, however the outer terrace was actually packed. The decor and the many plants inside and on the outer perimeter contribute to rather pleasant surroundings. ItÂ’s an island in Nueva Andalucia.

The Menu
The menu is very comprehensive, ranging from salads to sea food, meats, fish, pastas and desserts. Pasta Caffé, as the name implies, is based on Italian cuisine, penne, spaghetti, pizza and so on are the order of the day, all the same other dishes are also available, including a children menu. We pre-arranged a selection of 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts so as to cover a fair selection of dishes and tastes. I daresay anyone can do the same, especially family group, then you can fix in advance what’s on the menu and the price

Wine List -
Of course, as one would expect, the restaurant is well stocked however we found that the house red was simply excellent. Everyone without exception gave it a ten out of ten.

The Staff -
We found the staff to be very professional. Friendly, welcoming and attentive, they did not forget that they were there to please their customers. There was a fair amount of diners yet no-one seemed to have to wait long to be served or to be attended when something else was required. When our 5 year old diner seemed to get bored and got restless, they even found the time to take him by the hand to choose an ice-cream and give everyone else the chance to eat their meal. The personalised printed menu with our choice of dishes was a very nice touch.



We had to start on an Italian note, so the choice was between:

Carpaccio di Manzo: A beef carpaccio served with Rocket salad, finely chopped tomatoes and garnished with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Mozzarella Tricolore: A classic Italian starter comprising mozzarella, tomatoes and avocado pears, also dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

Funghi Impanati: Mushrooms dipped in breadcrumbs and fried, served with homemade tartar sauce, a salad garnish and lemon.
All of the starters made a good choice, everyone liked what they had without exception, however the carpaccio and the mushrooms were definitely the favourites, the home made tartar sauce was particularly underlined as the bested they tasted for a long while.

Main Course
The selection had to comprise Italian, fish and meat trying to please individual preferences, so we had:

Broschette alla Marinara: Two brochettes of fresh salmon, cod, prawns, onions mushrooms and peppers, with a salad garnish and the famous tartar sauce.

Penne Carbonara: Pasta in white sauce made with cream, white wine, onions and parmesan cheese.

Entrecote Steak: Grilled steak served with fried onions, sautéed broccoli and mushrooms.

Pizza part of the children menu:
Topped with tomatoes, ham and loads of mozzarella.

It would seem that the dish that was most liked is the Penne Carbonara, it was really, really nice, as Simon Cowell would say. A close second place goes to the brochettes and the accompanying tartar sauce, followed by the pizza which was very good.

The limelight was stolen by the above three dishes so there was less excitement about the classic steak.

It is difficult to compare the selection between Italian, classic and traditional, it makes even more difficult when they are all good. Everyone liked their choice of desserts namely: Italian ice cream - A choice of three of many flavours available.

Apple Pie - cold or warm, served with ice-cream or cream
Sticky Toffee Pudding - Caramel and toffee pudding served with caramel sauce and cream or ice-cream

It is a nice family restaurant that lends itself to business lunches as well as romantic dinners. The food is good, the service is good and the prices are most agreeable.
It is a perfect location for parties or groups looking for a good meal at a good price while maintaining good high standards in location, food and service.
