I was born in Dagenham (Essex) on the 19th April 1935. My mother was a housewife and my father an electrician. I was educated at Oxford and soon I became known as a quick witted satirical performer.
I have been married four times and I have two sons. I have acted on television which eventually lead me onto films. As an accomplished pianist who has recorded several albums and appeared in concert with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra, I have also composed the score for many films on both sides of the Atlantic.
I became an especially well known star with my performances in two American made films; this did lead me on to a series of minor comedies in which I acted, often a lecherous lead, but which largely failed at the box office. I died on March 27, 2002 from a progressive degenerative brain condition at the age of 66.
