A Leisure Centre most suited to British Families of the Costa

A few month ago we published an article about the closure of the ice skating rink in Benalmadena, the only one on the Costa del Sol, so when we heard that one was being opened in Gibraltar, we did our best to find out more about it.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Ice Rink is just one of the leisure activities available in a brand new development by the Gibraltar Government at the historically famous site of King’s Bastion, which is great news for all British families living on the Costa. The state of the art leisure centre in “English” will entertain families and especially children of all ages.
A Bowling Alley with the latest equipment to hand, including lane bumpers on all 14 lanes, ball ramps, light weight balls for the young ones and easy access for wheelchair users, caters for everyone, every day of the week, is just one of the features.

The Ice Skating Rink offers half hour and one hour sessions supervised by trained staff, accredited by the ISF (UK) to ensure maximum safety. Chidren under 7 need to be accompanied by an adult. One-to-One coaching is also available.
The Rock Bastion Restaurant & Cafeteria situated on the ground floor with easy access from the esplanade, opens everyday from 9.30am offering customers a choice of beverages, snacks, tapas or a la carte meal.

The Kings Bowl Bar situated by the bowling alley for those who enjoy a drink and a bowling game, or for those who just wish to catch up with friends over a drink. Whatever your reason, you can be assured of a warm welcome by the Kings Bowl staff.

The Wine bar & lounge an ideal place for an after works drink in a relaxing and enjoyable environment. The Wine bar & lounge is located on level 2, via the South Terrace.

The Youth bar and Lounge serves non-alcoholic drinks and is restricted to people between the ages of 12 to 18. This is an ideal place for the youth to meet and enjoy a drink in a safe and welcoming environment, located on level 2 via the North Terrace.

A Cinema is also forthcoming in the near future; meanwhile the King’s Bastion Leisure Centre has a variety of additional entertainment to suit all ages: Youth discos every week end organised by the Gibraltar Youth Centre. Nintendo Wii games, board games and amusement machines.
Discos and live entertainment are also organised every Friday and Saturday for over 18’s, even BBQ’s are available during the evening at weekends.

The Leisure Centre is open every day from 10am to midnight (2am on Saturdays).
