I was born on January 27, 1832 in Cheshire and I am known to have been an author, mathematician, Anglican clergyman, logician, and amateur photographer. My most famous writing is one of the best children stories ever written. My facility at word play, logic, and fantasy has delighted audiences ranging from the most naïve to the most sophisticated. My works have remained popular since they were published and have influenced not only children's literature, but also a number of major 20th century writers. A defect I carried into adulthood was what I referred to as my "hesitation", a stammer I had acquired in early childhood and which plagued me throughout my life. In 1996 there was a book published titled Jack the Ripper, in which I was accused, with a colleague, of being Jack the Ripper. It was largely based upon anagrams constructed from my writing; a theory which has never found support from other scholars. WHO AM I?
