Once again INTEREALTY were awarded the top  “Gold Jaguar Award” at The Houses of Parliament on the 25th November last. The awards are the only ones in the world that recognise international developers, developments, the people who build them and those who sell them.
Interealty were recognised as the leading and most dynamic estate agency. The Gold Award was presented for Best Estate Agency Marketing, with a high commendation for Best Spanish Estate Agency.

The Rt. Hon. Eric Pickles MP, chairman of a distinguished panel of judges, hosted the evening and said that “the standards of excellence achieved grew each year. It is difficult to see in which areas of building and lifestyle the standards can be improved, but no doubt they will continue to do so. Cynics may scoff at the relevance of awards of this kind, but they can only be good for the industry. They give home-buyers that extra confidence when they are embarking on what is, for most, the biggest expense of their lives.”

The end of last year saw the downfall of another dotcom. One of Uk’s leading financial Websites,, folded after running into problems over future funding. Their closure was announced with a final e-mail to clients saying: “It’s another internet collapse”. It is thought they burning between 350.000 and 500,000 pounds per month.

On the other hand, according to an NOP survey, nearly 50% of all businesses in the UK are now online. It was revealed that, in the first six months of last year, there was a rise of 20% in the number of companies going on line, including 70,000 companies employing less than10 staff. Some 25% of the newcomers did so to keep up with the competition.

A new business at the Puerto de La Duquesa is now providing an invaluable service to both residents and holiday makers. The DUQUESA BUSINESS CENTRE.
Julie Evans, who runs the centre said: The need for these services in this area was pointed out to us by people coming into the office asking if we could send e-mails, faxes and so on. It is amazing what people have asked for, yachtsmen wanting satellite weather forecasts, printed and laminated menus, electronic birthday cards and even children asking to use the Internet for their homework. It could be described as a Cybercafe, because of the availability of bar services within the Gallery, in fact the centre provides full office facilities to include the use of PCs,  A3 colour printer, telephones, fax, Email, Internet and so on. After just a short two months since opening, the centre is now expanding in order to meet the demand for Offices to Rent by the half to a full day. Apparently the number of people starting up new businesses and looking for interim accommodation is quite incredible.
Julie is also an experienced IT trainer who can assist if one is not too embarrassed to ask, she can also offer one to one private training to achieve effective use of computers.

The CUDECA “Raise the Roof 2000” has done exactly that! At the Gala Dinner, held at the Don Carlos Hotel on the 16th of December, the fund raising auction produced 40 million pesetas, including the 6 millions paid for a Platinum Disc for the Moody Blues Knights in White Satin single, which was kindly donated by John Lodge of the Moody Blues. It is believed that this is a world record price paid for a Platinum Disc at auction. The Gala, hosted by Maurice Boland, was  well supported by special guests, such as the well known Paul Daniels. Members of the audience included actors Robert Powell and Denis Waterman, comedians Hale and Pace as well as Stan Boardman and sportsmen Willie Thorne and Ray Clemence.
