Over the last few months, almost all newspapers in the UK have reported and bitterly complained about the car price differences between the UK and other European Countries. Substantial differences too, ranging from15% to 40%, depending on the model and make of individual vehicles. Well that is not new anymore, it seems to be an accepted fact because, despite all of the adverse publicity and protests made, it does not seem to have altered the situation very much.
What may be newer is the fact that an increasing number of consumers are now buying their new cars from abroad via the Internet while saving themselves a lot of money in the process. For some reason, Spain would seem to be the country where the most competitive prices are found, however, knowing where in Spain, could make a further difference to the amount saved. Bearing in mind that a car purchased in Spain by a foreign person can present a problem and hidden costs, instead of savings, it is important to locate a supplier that is familiar with the legislation involved and truly offer a good bargain while making full use of the opportunities that are available.
The news are that, in the course of our usual explorations, we have come across www.Motorenmano.com/Tiendas2002. Intrigued by the offer of new motor cars of different makes, we contacted the company, Tiendas 2002 S.L. in Malaga, to discover that they seem to specialise in obtaining any type of new car for all their clients at very competitive prices. They quoted us an example of a new Rover 45 - 2.0 TDI at 2.755.000 pesetas on the road, with full manufacturers guarantee, compared to the 3.076.000 pesetas, the current recommended retail price in Spain. This is the equivalent of £st.10,204 compared to the average £st.14,895 in the UK, at the rate of exchange at the time of writing. Other examples were given, some with less prominent differences, but many others with a similar difference.
We wondered why most of the cars quoted happened to be Diesel, believing that the company perhaps specialized in such engine driven cars, but apparently that is not the case, it would seem that because of the higher petrol costs, though diesel cars are more expensive, clients prefer to buy them taking advantage of the price saving when purchasing their cars. Normal petrol models, if preferred, apparently present no problem either.
The Managing Director, Mr. Jaap, of Dutch origin, explained that he established his company in Malaga in 98, he spoke fluent English and he seemed to be very familiar with the international aspect of buying a car. They are well worth contacting, in addition to new motor cars, they also have a selection of second hand vehicles. Their competitive prices would seem to extend to new commercial vehicles, though we have not made any comparison.
