I lived in 4th century Myra in the Byzantine Empire's Lycia, the modern day Demre in the Antalya province of Turkey. This is as much as is generally known about me in the West. My feast day is December 6th. I was for a time the Bishop of the city of Myra. I am the patron saint of fishermen, merchants, archers and children.
It is uncertain when I died; it is believed to be some time around 343-356 AD on December 6th. Some say I died in Italy and others claim Ireland. Although it is known I was buried in a cathedral in Myra.
