The food reviews are not advertisements. We visit a different restaurant every month, we pay for the meal and we comment and give points as honestly as we can for the benefit of our readers. We make a point to visit only restaurants which we believe are worth reporting on.

Introduction
After two unsuccessful owners, this tucked away restaurant, is finally making itself known as a good English food
restaurant. Clearly there is a moral to the story and it supports what we have always been saying. The old Costa
times have gone and now you really need to know your trade or profession in order to succeed in business here. FoxÂ’s is run by professionals and you can tell from the moment ou walk in. As a matter of fact you can tell even before because you tend to be drawn to it by that most appetising roma produced by beef being cooked on the grill, which somehow manages to find its way out in the street.

The staff
We found the staff to be courteous and attentive. As soon as you arrive you are asked if you have booked. If you havenÂ’t you will not be turned away, but you will be given the option to
come back at a given time later or wait in the lounge area with a drink. We found that the service was good and efficient.

Atmosphere
Can you picture a pubÂ’s restaurant in England? Well that is exactly what the place reminds me of. Of course it is not a Public House and I am referring to the restaurant part; the tables, the set up, the people. I used to know a good old restaurant in Baker Street that, apart from the piano player, offered a very similar ambience. After the first few minutes you tend to forget you are in Spain, which can be rather refreshing at times, especially if you appreciate some good English food for a change.

The Menu
A fair selection of starters, salads, fi sh, poultry and meats. What else would you want? Ah yes of course! What about the desserts? What about sticky toff ee pudding or bread and butter pudding amongst others? Well if you donÂ’t feel an appetite sharpening your tummy by now you never will.

Wine List
It is not an extensive wine list but adequate. It does comprise a choice of house wines, which are also available by the glass, as well as a small selection of known red and white Spanish wines. Th e infallible Mateus Rosé and some Cava’s are also available.

Starters

Chef’s Paté
A chicken liver paté served with toast and garnished with salad leaf. FBA – Th is is one of our favourites. It is absolutely delicious; every time we come here, it is guaranteed that at least one in our group will order it. You would never guess it is chicken liver paté, the fl avour just lingers on and prompts you to have another morsel. Yes I could make a meal just of that! Team score – 10/10

Mushroom Viennoise
Mushrooms covered in breadcrumbs and served with a garlic dip. Obviously the name is inspired by the bread crumbs. FBA – This is another of our favourite entrées. Just imagine the crisp surface with the soft mushroom inside, dipped into a delicious garlic sauce. Need I say more? All right then, follow that with a sip of red wine. Do you see why it is one of our favourites? Team score – 9/10

Main Courses

Sirloin steak
Well some of us are attracted by the aroma of meat being grilled even before entering the restaurant, so the choice may be unimaginative but certainly not wrong. FBA – A largish 375 gms. steak that comes accompanied by tomato, onion rings and a choice of plain or dressed with a pepper sauce or a stilton sauce. I rather like the plain and prefer to taste the full flavour of the excellent quality beef cooked to my liking on the grill. Team Score – 10/10

Steak pie
Traditional home made steak pie with a puff pastry lid and garnished with mashed potatoes. FBA – If you miss good, traditional and proper old English food, you must order this. I am certain you will not find better on the Costa. The beef is clearly beef and it is tender and flaky, just as it should be. The portion is quite generous and though you may struggle to finish it all, you will fi nd that you keep being drawn to it, mouthful after mouthful. Just maximise the pleasure and rinse your mouth with a sip of wine every so often. Team Score – 10/10

Vegetables
I make a special point of mentioning these because they seem to come to your table as a surprise. Just when you thought that the steak or whatever you ordered is quite well presented with its own garnishing, here come the vegetables of the day, which comprise fried potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and whatever other veggies were available fresh on the day. Th re are not many restaurants that I have seen that give you all this free of charge as part of the meal you have ordered.

Desserts

By this time you will feel quite full and replenished, but dare you go without at least trying a conventional English

Apple pie
We all know what that is and it comes with a choice of custard or ice cream. FBA –We went all conventional and chose the custard. Seeing what they have on offer at their cake shop, perhaps a Spaniard may not appreciate
this as much, but I thought it was absolutely delicious, just like mama used to make, never mind the tea shop
at the High Street. Team Score 10/10

Bread and butter pudding
Served with a choice of fresh cream, custard or ice cream. FBA – One of us just had to go over the top and ask for cream as well as ice cream. I think that the cream would have been quite enough; the ice cream is just out
of place here. All the same, absolutely delicious, but not exactly recommended if you are on a diet. Team
score 10/10

Summary
Ever since it was taken over by its present management, this restaurant started to become a success. You need not ask, it is evident that they are all very skilled professionals who have done the same before in the U.K. for many years. They have brought here with them a bit of England that is well worth cultivating not just for the sake of it but because the food is very good and you get excellent value for money.
I strongly advise to book because it is becoming quite a regular spot for many, including us. I think that the introduction of the Sunday lunch from October will only make them even more popular.
