You may have noticed that this edition has been dated July/August. No, it does not mean that we have changed, we are still most definitely a monthly publication but, as we always come out in the middle of the month, we do not want anyone to think that we are out of date or late just because we happen to be seen around during the first half of the following month.
Of course there is a good reason for this; we do not wish to miss out on any events relating to a specific month. For example the launch of the Solbank new web site took place on the 26th June, in order to be out at the beginning of July this edition would have had to be going through the printing process before the event. But, because we are and not late, the news do appear on this edition and not the next one. Does this make sense? I hope so!
The highlight of this month is an article provided by Robin Strong, who we hope will be a regular contributor to our editorial pages in future. Robin is based in the UK and he certainly knows his stuff.
This months learning zone is dedicated to chatting on the Internet, I am hoping to provide some more articles with regards to Netiquette, meanwhile it was important to highlight the simple, common sense precautions that one should take and be aware of.
The messages by e-mail have kept coming in as before, which of course was very nice, thank you. I am overwhelmed with the support and encouragement that we all keep getting.
Although the Costa is multi-national and English is understood by most, our publication was launched in English, but we cannot ignore the comments made by some to the effect that the majority of local people do not necessarily understand English or may have difficulty in picking up the real meaning of certain expressions. For this reason, we have decided that we will introduce a Spanish translation of our editorial section. This will be done as soon as possible, when the number of pages needs to be increased. In theory, well before the end of this year.
There are lots of other goodies in store, but then I cannot tell you everything before it happens.
One thing is certain, the copies of Web Express Guide, that we keep placing in various locations, seem to disappear very rapidly and the fact that we see people carrying them around and even reading them in the street is most pleasing and reassuring.
Keep writing to me, you know I like it!
