Where's a policeman when you need one?

This week a friend of mine was the victim of an attempted mugging.

This may not sound like news, if however I had said that ‘a fit man, over six feet tall was the victim of an attempted mugging’, the news takes on a more sinister slant.

It’s a sad fact that violent attacks like this are becoming more common all along the Costa del Sol. Where are the police when you need them? A more visible police presence at night would make a difference in deterring these thieves.

It seems to me that the only time we see any police at all is when they are dolling out parking tickets to already overburdened motorists! I know of other people local to Sabinillas who have suffered similar attacks and in general it is seen as a waste of time to report the crime to the police.

So why are the public being let down like this? It would seem that the police are too busy persecuting tax paying motorists rather than attend to human crime.

Let us not forget we pay their wages, mostly on the strength of parking fines and we expect something in return. After all this area is not exactly a hotbed of crime so the local police should be able to take care of a few low life petty criminals.
