Its finally that time again ladies (and gentlemen). No more hiding away our poor neglected feet. Get those sandals out and give your feet and toes a do-it-yourself pedicure.
Make the effort and get soaking, exfoliating and moisturizing. I know some of us do forget about our feet and after a hard day at work its bad enough having to take your makeup off, let alone thinking about your feet, but here are a few tips on what to do when you have a spare half hour.
Buy yourself a foot file or pumice stone. Then give your feet a good long soak in warm water with a few drops of baby oil, tea tree oil or something similar to help soften hard skin. Leave them soaking for at least 15 minutes, then rinse and dry.
Cut your nails straight across, this will strengthen them, and then finish with an emery board, filing in one direction to avoid tearing. Always follow the shape of the end of each toe and never cut nails shorter or trim down the sides as this can cause in-grown toenails.
Dab on cuticle cream and gently push back the skin using a cuticle stick. Never cut cuticles. Massage your feet with a foot scrub concentrating on heels and other areas of hard skin and rinse well.
Next, using a foot file or pumice stone, rub hard skin on heels and balls of feet evenly, not pushing down too hard, then rinse and dry well.
If you can find somebody to do the next bit for you the experience will be much more enjoyable. Moisturise, preferably with a foot balm but you can always use up pots of moisturizers that need finishing, and give your feet a 5 minute massage.
To finish (ladies) apply 2 coats of your favourite nail polish, put on your party shoes and enjoy the summer!
