It was proven that a quart of fresh cabbage juice a day relieved pain and healed both gastric and duodenal ulcers better and faster than standard treatments did.
How does cabbage work? It works by strengthening the resistance of the stomach lining to acid attacks. It contains vitamin U, a compound used as an anti ulcer drug. The drug incites cells to spin out a thin mucus barrier as a shield against acid attacks. The vitamin is destroyed by cooking.
Another possibility: Cabbage is an antibiotic; it can destroy a variety of bacteria in test tubes, now implicated as a cause of ulcers.
Anti ulcer Cabbage Recipe

Spring and summer cabbages are therapeutically superior and the fresher the better.
Long storage saps their powers and note that the cabbage must be raw; heating or processing destroys its active anti ulcer agents.
Additional benefits: Constipation
A meal of raw cabbage is an excellent remedy for constipation.
The cabbage provides the roughage i.e. indigestible material which is essential to stimulate intestines for the proper action of the bowels. It acts immediately without any adverse after-effects. The meal can be prepared by adding a little salt, black pepper and lemon juice to finely chopped raw cabbage.
