PUBLISHERS NOTE

Copyright Protection.

You cannot patent a work of art be it a book, a painting, a design or a musical creation these are defined as intellectual property owned by their creator.

Copyright is the section of legislation that protects the owner of intellectual property. In plain language, this means that anyone copying such creations is actually stealing it and if income is derived from such a creation it belongs to the copyright owner.

In our previous edition we have made mention of this, but perhaps we should emphasize that it is not just the obvious loss of income to a perpetrator that is annoying, there are other implications. Someone getting credit for something he did not do can acquire additional underserved benefits and in our case to see one of our proudly created adverts copied in an inferior quality publication like the Diary is demeaning for us and a bad image presentation to our advertisers.
