UD Marbella earned an important 4 - 2 win away to Lucena CF that sees them move out of the relegation zone with 3 home matches left to play out of 5 before the end of the season.
Marbella started the match strongly and in just the 5th minute they found themselves 1 - 0 up central defender Valentín getting his first goal for the club since his arrival in January. Marbella was awarded a foul some way out, Chus López placed the ball into the heart of the Lucena box and there was Valentín to head the ball into the back of the net.
Lucena were in shock and in the 10th minute,while they were still smarting over the goal, Christian played a one - two with Vergara, on recovering the ball he side stepped Dani Lanza and hit a great shot that ended up in the top left hand corner of the Lucena net.
The second goal was a hammer blow for Antonio Moreno's team but they were given a lifeline in the 30th minute when they were awarded a dubious penalty after Valentín was adjudged to have handballed in the area. Cabello made no mistake from the spot and Lucena were back in the game.
Lucena, with their tails up, now tried to get back on level terms but found the Marbella defence a difficult barrier to breakdown. In the 44th minute Lucena's Fernando Carralero fell in the area, the referee adjudged the player to have dived and showed him his second yellow card ending his participation in the game. The first half ended with Marbella holding their own and just in front.
The second half started with Lucena trying hard but Marbella was now playing with a confidence that belied their position in the table. The inevitable happened in the 62nd minute when Carlos Arias scored from a move almost identical to the first goal. Chus López played a ball into the area and there was central defender Arias to record his first goal of the season.
Lucena to their credit didn't give up and Diego Herrera headed the ball towards the Marbella goal bringing out a sensational save from Ávila. In the 76th minute Marbella made it 4 - 1, Jabuti collected the ball went forward and hit a shot that the Lucena keeper couldn't get to. With the second ticking away Lucena scored via a spectacular volley from Gottardi, but it proved to be too little too late and Marbella secured the 4 - 2 victory.
